Lohmann Family circa 1911
This photo was probably taken in 1911. The couple on the right end are Carl and Wilhelmina, Gustav (Grandpa Lohman)'s parents!
In the center (seated) are Ferdinand and Caroline Lohmann. Ferdinand was Carl's uncle, the brother of Carl's father Karl. Karl, Frederich, Wilhelm and Ferdinand were the four Lohmann brothers who came to America from Prussia (Germany) (in 1868, 1883, 1881 and 1874, respectively).
The couple on the left are John and Augusta (Lohmann) Langsdorf. Augusta was Ferdinand and Caroline's daughter.
The couple in the back are Edward and Mathilda (Langsdorf) Lohmann. The children in front are their sons Howard and Lester. So there are four generations represented in the picture.
Mathilda's mother Augusta was Edward's cousin, making Mathilda and her husband Edward second cousins.
Edward was also Grandpa Lohman's brother (one of eight... he also had one sister).
The picture is courtesy of David Lohman in Zumbrota, whom David (my cousin) visited this summer. David Lohman in Zumbrota was Muriel, Priscilla and Richard's cousin. His father was also one of Grandpa's brothers, Herman August (the next older one). Grandpa was the youngest in the family.
