I'm a Daughter of the American Revolution!
I found out this week that Sarah Adcock Libby's great-grandfather was Jesse Johnson, born 1763 in Virginia, died 1834 in Tennessee, and that he fought in the Revolution from June 1781 to June 1782. I have a copy of the affadavit he swore in order to get his pension (which was granted to him when he was 61 years old).
Jesse had a daughter named Martha Patsy (1798 - 1860). She married Jonathan Adcock, and James Ellison Adcock (Sarah's father)was one of their children - the third of ten children.
Martha had a brother named John who was living with her in 1850 in Dickson, Tennessee, and he is listed as an "idiot". He was about 42 years old (ten years younger than Martha).
So apparently any of Sarah's female descendants qualify for membership in the DAR - the Daughters of the American Revolution! Cool!
