Grandpa Lohman's Family
Carl and Wilhelmina and their children (probably taken about 1897 or so):
Back row, left to right:
Louis (1878-1953)
Anna (Schmitt) Lohmann (John's wife) (1874-1940)
John (1874-1919)
Edward (1882-1972)
Emil (1879-1914)
Middle row:
Charles (1876-1959)
Wilhelmina (1849-1930)
Carl (1848-1927)
Eda (1884-1925)
Front row:
Otto (1886-1910)
Gustav (1892-1963)
H. August (1889-1961)
There was one other child, Albert, who lived for only a few months in 1881.
John and Anna were married 17 June 1897, so perhaps this was taken on the occasion of their marriage.

Hi, My name is Trevor Lohmann and I live in Adelaide South Australia and I think the photo you have here is my Great grandfather and Great grandmother! Just two questions? Is that photo taken in Germany? was this Carl second marriage? My grandfather Friedrick Oswald Lohmann was born in Colditz Germany 14th July 1872 and did not get on with his stepmother Wilhelmina and ran away from home and joined the Prussian navy!
And then came to South Australia in 1911 with his wife Maria Lohmann (nee Wonicker)from Leipzig
The dates and names all fit in with my family history!
Could please contact me to confirm any of this.
Thanks
Trevor Lohmann

Hi, Trevor. I'm sorry, but I don't think it's the same family. My Lohman ancestors came to America a lot earlier and this picture was definitely taken in America. And I don't think it was a second marriage. I will double check but I am pretty sure I am right about that.
